The Koru Games was set up to provide South Island year 7 & 8 students with an accessible opportunity to develop their individual skillsets through playing team sport for their school.
Selwyn Sports Trust (SST) was motivated by the success of the AIMS Games and as such decided to bring a similar concept to the South Island. In doing so SST has and continues to engage with and link strongly to local, regional and national sporting organisations and bodies. By doing this high quality experiences are ensured across all sporting competitions offered at the Koru Games.
While competition is acknowledged as an inherent part of the Games, a strong ethic base will underpin all competitions and playing within the spirit of the Games will be an expectation for all.
The eleven sports offered in 2018 will all be played simultaneously over the three days of the Games, making best use of the available time and space. You can find the Games Timetable here. All sports are split across four Selwyn Hubs;
Lincoln (township) – Badminton, Boccia, Lawn Bowls, Netball & Rugby Sevens
Lincoln University – Basketball, Ki O Rahi, Squash & Volleyball
Prebbleton – Football (soccer) & Tennis
Rolleston – Table Tennis & Touch
